in Ecuador we have three similar looking species : midas, aureus and astylos.
the set male upperside looks like midas and astylos, but not like aureus, and on the underside, with the yellow area of the FWUN not so large, looks clearly like midas.
the male pictured by Joe Thompson at the IKIAM can be midas or astylos
the females below, photographed at rio Bigal, near Coca and at Tiputini are identical and can also be astylos or midas (we never saw a female B. aureus).
