this butterfly found at Pimpilala is the one and only Periplacis thalassicus known from Ecuador - id. confirmed by Jason Hall.
this species is exceedingly rare, known almost exclusively from one site in French Guyana, a site now devastated (J-Y Gallard pers. com.).
