this Mechanitis pictured by Andrew Neild just South of Tena is a riddle.
it looks like what we call mazaeus tipo "A", and, more particularly, like the first three specimens of mazaeus mazaeus figured on butterfliesofamerica, but all mazaeus specimens illustrated on BoA have white dots on the VFW apex.
this butterfly has no white dots at all, just like all messenoides ?
